June 2009 (almost 3!) twin boys refuse to do #2 on the loo! PLEASE HELP!

Both boys are doing a fine job peeing, but they refuse to even try #2 on the toilet. I do put a diaper on them during nap and at bed time for two reasons. They still do not hold their urine while sleeping and two this is the only time they will poo. Obviously, they have some control because they do wait for the diapers. What is the deal with not wanting to use the toilet! :-)

I disagree. Many kids do need nap during the day, even at 3. As far as the pooping on the potty, give them some more time. There is no need for concern, many kids don't potty train until 3-3 1/2 or even 4. Boys in particular. There are many things they need to be ready physically, emotionally, and socially. This takes time. Keep encouraging them, they'll get it eventually, but don't worry too much about it, they may just not be totally ready yet. Also, kids find it much more difficult to control their bowels than their bladder, that is why it is called TRAINING. They need to train themselves to do both. Hang in there, even if it is another year before they get it, they will when they are fully ready.

This is quite common especially in boys. They may be frightened of the splash back or releasing the poop which is the main reason kids do this. I would stop the napping in the day they do not need it at 3 although I understand it gives you a break. You can buy toilet balls that float ontop of the toilet to teach boys to pee accurately. See if you can entice them to poop on them. If you take away the opportunity to poop in the day and replace it with extended toilet time to poop in the toilet you may have more luck. It is a confidence thing once they have done it once, and realise that nothing drastic happend you will be on your way to daytime nappy free!
