Hi fellow moms,
I just started Zoloft and I am on day 4. I was started on lexapro and took it for two weeks but couldn't handle the side effects. I experienced worsening of depression but it did help a little with anxiety. Anyway after stopping lex my depression worsened and then was started on Zoloft. I am still experiencing depression but anxiety is back hoping the Zoloft will start to help. Any one experience something similar? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks:)

When I had PPD, I was on 3 different medications because the first two didn't work for me. It isn't uncommon for it not to work, and can, in fact, worsen symptoms if it isn't the right medication. However, you are only on Day 4 and it does take about 2 weeks for it to take any real effect. Make sure you are seeing your doctor regularly and are also talking to a counsellor/psychologist and are discussing these things with them so that it can be monitored. But don't be afraid to let them know it isn't working for you. Make sure you are also eating well, getting exercise and sunshine, and getting plenty of sleep. These are all also really important in your recovery process.

I totally agree with Jodi. I was once on Zoloft but it didn't help me. I didn't have ppd/ppa. But both my mom and sister are on Zoloft since a long time and it helps them. I have tried so many antidepressants and finally I am on some that work well for me..the only side effect is that I have gained weight. But I really rather feel psychology better and weigh more then weigh less but feel like crap. Good luck and I hope the Zoloft works.
