My middle son just went to his first dentist appointment.
He's the kind of kid that is afraid to go to the doctors and even mentioning the word, freaks him out.
My friend took her son who is the same age (5) to his first appointment and said he loved it. She said they were really nice and caring. I let my son know that his friend went and loved the dentist and that he needs to go as well. I told him how he would get a new toothbrush and a small toy for going. He was on board!
Today I let him know we were going and he was all scared and didn't want to go. I told him it would be okay and it wouldn't hurt.
He went in and was amazing! He got his first cleaning which didn't take long. He had a little bit of plaque but no cavities. He even has a couple front bottom teeth that are getting loose.
He got a new toothbrush and toothpaste and he picked out a bouncy ball.
Now he says he loves the dentist. Which is great because he's going back in 6 months! lol.
My youngest son was there as well (he's 4 today) and said he wants to go so I made his appointment for when we go back in 6 months.
I have to say, I have a horrible fear of the dentist and I don't let them know that but I'm glad they're on the path to at least liking the dentist and not being so scared.
