I have been doing research on when to feed baby's cereal n baby food. What I have read is ridiculous !! Some say wait till 6 months. Others 2 weeks old. All from scientist and doctors. But what gets me is if u have a baby that has reflux it's ok to give them cereal but then not to give another baby cereal cause to many problems. What is the difference? I don't really see one myself. It's all contradicted its self. We as mothers now when to start feeding our babies baby food.

No Shawnn
I m not saying that at all, I am sorry you couldnt breast feed and your baby sounds like you did just great. their was absolutely no judgement or criticism intended, i just shared my experience. that s all it is. we all do what we can to give the best possible to our kids. if formula is the best we can do, then it is enough. sorry that i offended you.

So, Wanita, you're basically saying that those of us who formula fed, rather than breast, poisoned our kids?

I really wish you hadn't put that sentiment out there (quote: you ll find a large percentage started before 3 months with food or formula milk) Honey, some of us cannot breastfeed. For whatever reason (and it's none of anyone's business but ours).

You find me a parent who has had a reliable source prove that their kid's allergies are a direct result of FORMULA, and I'll give you the razzie prize. A little rice cereal to supplement, amazingly enough, was the ONLY thing that didn't cause allergies in my little guy! I couldn't introduce ANY food other than rice cereal for over a year because of his allergy issues. But I guarantee it's not because of the formula that he was fed.

I really wish that breastfeeding women could understand the other side, and quit trying to induce guilt in everyone who's chosen an alternative feeding method.

no matter how big baby seems food of any kind before 3 months could induce allergies. breastmilk is best. ask moms of kids with allergies when they started with foods and you ll find a large percentage started before 3 months with food or formula milk. i agree with late eaters, i have 3 boys all breastfed till 5 months, started solids at four and five months and formula bottle at night. food at this age is like 2 teaspoons or less. no food allergy problems. read alot of statistics when they were babies.
if your baby seems hungry after breastfeeding, then start adding formula milk bottle before bedtime. this will help baby to sleep longer. this way dad can also help with night feeds. remember they can sometimes wimper as if they are hungry, but they actually might just have some winds. all the best.

And that, my dear is the best realization that we can come to! And darned if it doesn't feel good to realize that we are doing ok!

Mary, you'll "just wonder" a lot as your roller coaster ride as a parent continues, but you've already made a very important discovery, and thats that YOU DO have instinct!

Good job! and keep it up!
