11 year old girl born without empathy. Concerned our lack of knowledge for this is causing us to raise her wrong.

Humans are not "born" with traits such as empathy, sympathy, etc. These are learned traits. There does seem to be a problem if absolutely nothing gets to her, but it isn't that she was born without empathy. Jodi's link is a good one, and hope a solution can be found

I don't understand this part of your post:
"She has been volunteering since she was four years old, has helped many people."
Kids don't volunteer at 4, their parents volunteer them.
The link Jodi provided explains it really well and I don't know what more to say.

If you have a background in psychology... I would assume you would have had your child in therapy years ago because you would know there is a problem and her therapists would be helping you w/ the situation.

I'm not suggesting it isn't real. I am suggesting that there is a problem. My schooling is also psychology (it was my major at university in my first degree) and I work with children (I am a teacher and on the wellbeing team at a year 7-10 high school). Empathy is learned, not inherent. You suggested she was born without empathy. ALL children are born with capacity for empathy unless there are other issues.

What therapy has she had? What diagnosis does she have? If you have a background in psychology, surely you have some level of direction toward some diagnosis? But I assure you, she was not just born without empathy. Something else is wrong here.

my schooling is psychology of abused kids, I had to raise 5 of my 7 brothers and this is our 4 child. All have had a good upbringing. Our baby girl is different and I feel needs to be raised different. In all my research they call it emotional autism. This is real to her. She has been volunteering since she was four years old, has helped many people. Yes, seek out help all the time because this is so different I have not experienced it before. She never cares if she gets into trouble. Authority never phases her. But, she has other very amazing qualities and is a really special kid.
We are concerned no one in her future will see those qualities because of this lack of being able to see or put others feelings ahead of hers and has zero understanding or care of others wants or needs. It is so different.
And yes, in our research found out there are A LOT of kids in prison today because they dont have a sense of empathy. Scares us to death.

Children are not born with or without empathy. Empathy is something that is learned. All children are born with the CAPACITY to develop empathy and whether it is developed depends very much on how we respond to their needs. Unless there was some level of brain damage during gestation or birth, your child has always had the capacity to develop empathy, but somewhere along the way, this has not had the opportunity to do so.

Have you sought psychological counselling to assist you with this concern?

Kids aren't really born w/ much empathy... they more learn it by example. If she is 11 and still has no empathy I am assuming you have her seeing a therapist..
