Hello my name is Melissa gotta a question that infuriates me about my kids and my family. Here's the scenario: were at a family dinner with extended family and my kids are young and were trying to teach them that if you don't eat your dinner that you don't get snacks or dessert after. Well my kids didn't even try to eat dinner and they all told me I should make them pbj because they didn't eat I said no and had to defend myself about why not then I go out of the room and they are feeding the kids dessert. I was furious so my question is am I being too hard on my kids or am I justifed any thoughts

Well, stop inviting them over for dinner if they can't respect you in your home.

Well, I do think it is a bit rude of people to do this in your home when you have certain rules. If it had been in their home, I wouldn't see it the same way. I think, however, if this is not a regular thing, then just see it as a bit of a treat - I know my table rules are a little different when we have company over for dinner. I don't really see it as a big deal. But if it is something that is regular and happening all the time, maybe you need to sit down and have a talk with them calmly about it and explain why you have the rule you have, and ask for their support in respecting that.
