My son is the youngest in his class . And he is going to be held back for immaturity . I know this is the right thing to has anyone done this . If so how did they do the following year in Kindergarten again. I just want him to be ok emotionally. I am hoping being this young it will be no big deal seeing his friends move on .

They don't know any better at this age my son still played with his friends at recess and it didn't really bother him

My step son was held back a year. There was no way he was ready for school. He was still struggling with toileting and speech. He was only 4 1/2. He is now in Year 7, and we still believe it was the best decision ever made. He is doing extremely well at school and has lots of friends. When they are young, it is easy for them to make friends, and they settle in more easily with a new group. He will be fine.
