thirty-eight years of direct experience and observation which have shown that unfortunately my parents were right and the current generation of doctors are wrong (under-informed)

I hope you will post where you got your medical degree, Suzi.. since the DOCTOR who had actually examined this child told the mother differently.

Breastfed babies can go a week or more w/out pooping and have absolutely nothing in the world wrong w/ them.

Constipation can most certainly be a problem... but there is no way on earth you know that is what is going on w/ this child.

It's always a big deal - those who say it isn't are denying the reality of autointoxication from the intestines.
Usual answer - cut a sliver of ordinary soap and insert it up her butt as a suppository (with vaseline). No danger, at worst it'll make her cry when you put it in - but I guarantee it'll make her do a dooey in 5-15 minutes!

It is very rare (though certainly not impossible) for a breastfed baby to be constipated. I have 'heard' up to 2 weeks can be normal sometimes, but it's not something I have, personally, experienced. If the doctor isn't worried I wouldn't worry... but do keep in contact with them about it.

Its not uncommen for babys to be constipated. If the doctor said its no problem then i wouldnt worry. But if she still doesnt in a day or so i would call the doctor and ask how many days isnt a problem. Good luck
