I am raising my grandson. He is 4 yrs old. I have only left him with family if I have something to do that does not allow him to go with me. I am single. I have a referral for local babysitters from my neighbor. Does anyone have any recommendations for me as to the best way to leave him the first time with a babysitter I do not know. Even though she was recommended to me I am still uncomfortable leaving him. Please help. Thank you.

Hi Brenda,
Thank you. I was thinking the same thing. Maybe the new babysitter can come over and hang out for a couple of hours to get acquainted before I leave them alone together. I appreciate your quick response!

Thanks again,
Maria

Hi I can only tell you what I did the first time I left my girls with a non-relative babysitter for the first time. When I moved to a new state 2 1/2 years ago I had no family here, I found a babysitter through the local DayCare Center and had her come and visit with the children for a day while I just hung out around the house, that way they got to know her before I left them alone with her and they were very comfortable the first time I left them with her alone, it all worked out very well but I think them meeting her first helped relieve some of their anxiety and mine!
