When you are breastfeeding, your milk is created higher up in your breast and then when you are near your baby, hear baby cry, are nursing or even thinking about nursing, your milk "lets down". This means that the produced milk up in the mammary glands comes down into the milk ducts and is ready to be pumped, nursed or manually expressed. You may feel a prickly, tingling or heavy sensation as you "let down". Not every mom even notices this phenomenon. Hope that helps.
