We have two names picked for our son that we can't decide from. i would love to let our daughter pick the name but she will only be 15-16 months. She copies words we say and has made attempts as both names. Any ideas on how she would be able to choose? cute ideas welcome. we really love both names so either way would be fine :-)

Another thing you can do is buy her two baby boy dolls. Name them with the two name choices. Then as she plays with them say oh is that baby (insert name). See which doll she prefers to play with most? Ask her to take one of her babies with her when you leave the house. Who will she take?

My daughter has a baby doll that is dressed in pink with a pink cap. She doesnt have a name for it. She just calls it baby? But I have come to realize that she preferes this one doll out of all her dolls because of the pink cap. She thinks it is a helmet like her 6 month old sister wears. I was putting stickers on her sisters helmet to decorate it and while I was doing this she was putting stickers on her baby dolls pink cap. She is really attached to this doll as well. She takes it for a stroll in the stroller while I take her baby sister. Its adorable. haha.

Another suggestions from me. haha.

Does your daughter know there is a baby in your tummy? If so maybe point at your belly and say, you little brother needs a name? Should we call him (.....) or (.....)? Of course she may repeat you as it is what you say she does. Then maybe later say where is your baby brother and see if she will point to your belly If she doesnt then remind her where he is. Then ask her if she remembers his name? and if she doesnt respond remind her of the options. If she hears the names constantly eventually she may say one more than the other. Eventually the one she says more will be probably because it is easier for her to say. This maybe the way you can get her to pick a name, maybe.

I have a 16 month old also and she is great with her vocabulary. She will also repeat words we say even if she does not know what they mean or understand there concept. Im not sure your little one will understand what a name is as im not sure mine knows what a name is exactly.. For example: You can say, Do you want to name your Little Brother Rock or Tree, or you can say Elliot or Alexander? Will your little one know the difference from a word and a name? Im not sure my little one would. Its somewhat hard to explain to them at this age. My daughter knows her grandpa is grandpa and Zombie is my moms dog. But she doesnt understand that Zombie is the dogs name. She will call all dogs she sees Zombie. haha. She knows what she is told to call things and people. If that makes sense.

That's what the hard part is.. i know she want really know what she's picking :-/ she is very smart and same thing..she knows what to call.things but bc she is told what they are. not really given choices. i didn't know if any moms had like a "pick a name out of a hat" trick. it sounds lAme but since we can't decide (its even between our two names for both of us) we would love for her to be the one to just say it. she calls much belly Malcolm but that's not really a choice :-) and were sure she's trying.to say something else..maybe like "welcome"... lol but she says baby!! and then randomly says "mal-com"
