Hi Moms. I've got a real problem here. My girl is 5 and lies and lies. She's telling quite a few different stories about where she found the extra strength tums she was found eating at school yesterday. What can I do???? Thanks.

Tonight she's had no cartoons at all. I don't think she's discovered all her movies missing as well.

Well I think I may, MAY, have gotten something out of her. I'll let her teacher know how she put it and see if it makes sense to her. Everything fit in this "story," and when I asked her a question during her telling of it, to check a detail of it, her answer to the question matched what she told me earlier in the "story."

I doubt eating a few extra strength tums will do any damage, but it certainly isn't something that a child should be able to get a hold of without a parent's knowledge and permission.

Maybe tell her that she isn't in trouble for eating them (though reaffirm to her that it is NEVER ok to eat anything without your knowledge and permission) and she won't be in trouble for telling you where they came from, but she is in trouble until she tells you. This isn't just a little lie. It's one that could potentially cause her serious harm and since you don't want her to get hurt she must stay in her room (stripped of anything fun) to make sure she is safe and that you can trust her to be honest with you.

We've told her everything Shawn said we should; I didn't add that, but please, no one make any light of this. This is very serious; it wasn't ONE it was more, and i don't even know how many! And I'm very upset! I want to know where the BLEEP she got them!

We're totally telling her she's not in trouble for the "pills" as i'm calling them, and have already explained about the being very sick part.

Nothing about this is going to make me feel better. You think telling me she has an active imagination helps???? thanks for your post but nothing there helps me.
