I am a 45 year old female. 23 years ago I was blessed to give birth to a healthy baby girl who weighed 4 lbs 15 oz. I developed Pre-Eclampsia and HELLP syndrome in my second trimester. I delivered at 34 weeks. I was in ICU and did not wake up for a couple of days. Doctors, nurses and family thought I was not going to live. Organs were shutting down. After delivery, I received a blood transfusion. I pulled through and was able to see my girl on day 3 in the NICU. After I had her, I kept complaining of my right eye. It was blurry but no one could ever figure out why. I still have issues to this day. About 3 years after I gave birth, I developed Chronic EBV and Fibromyalgia. It took a good year or year in a half for me to get through the EBV. I wanted more children but 2 out of 3 high risk pregnancy specialists I went to did not recommend it. Plus, my gut told me no as well. I still have Fibromyalgia. I take high blood pressure meds. I often wonder if it was something in the blood transfusion I received or if it is all related somehow. I was only 21 at the time of the pregnancy and it was my first and only. I hope someday, doctors will find the reason behind this condition to help others.
