Life is good as I mother my retarded adult daughter. a single mom my daughter is 27year old retarded adult. The bus from the adult daycare picks her up and drops her off each day. From the daycare she gets a sense of purpose, her days have a pattern she is happy there and happy here. It is good for her. It is good for me too my life is good ? Will you ask questions ? Will you comment? Will you be my neighbor?

Actually, I'm not certain in which country you currently abide, but the use of the word "retarded" in reference to mental disability has LONG since been considered incorrect, in both the US and other countries.

Encouragement is always awesome, and it truly is great that you've been able to raise your daughter to adulthood! No, its not bad for you to have a good life and be happy about that, and I'm very glad that you rose to the challenge.

Maybe this part of the country is out of date because the doctor and the adult daycare use the word retarded when she was in school the word retarded was used I did not go here to be criticized I can get that easily. My point is to encourage each other as neighbors

Just so long as you understand, Barbara, that the use of the word "retarded" in regards to a person's mental condition can be very offensive to most, if not all.

If you have parented a developmentally disabled child to adulthood, and she's managing well, then good job! It is most definitely a challenge, but a very rewarding one.

What is important to this talk is to celebrate a little goodness that exists I wanted to share that and hope others had a little neighborliness to share that's what matters,

I must admit, I find the term "retarded" strange too, because that is no longer any form of official diagnosis. What is her "actual" diagnosis?

I am a little shocked at your use of the term retarded frankly, but honestly if your daughter is happy and you have a stable life there is nothing wrong with that!
Being able to proudly look at your daughter and say "I am happy!" is amazing.
I am sure man moms look at their 27 year old's who are perfectly developed and say "omg, where did I go wrong."
Kudos to you.
