Life is so different with our kids gone!

Our three kids are educated and moved away and my lab died of cancer. I have an almost 17 year old cat and a husband that travels. Luckily I have been able to start traveling with him here and there, but the life I knew has changed. Friends have moved on - condos in Florida, etc. It gets very lonely in this house that we've been in for 22 years. What to do? Still trying to figure it out! I was a stay-at-home Mom for so many years and now the train has hit the end of the track hard. In the meantime, my husband pursued many of his goals, dreams, adventures, whatever, while I was home taking care of three kids. He doesn't get it! I couldn't do any of that stuff. Frustrated and lonely!

My mom has went from 5 kids to one- who is 17 and never home. I don't think she's ever been busier. She has a part time job, bonded over boss-hating and now visits with friends, is renovating her house (personally), brews wine as a hobby. She talks to our school friends moms, and makes dates with her now empty nester cousins. She also somehow schedules time in to see us.
Life for her is much different, but she has so much more freedom now. You have time now for passion. It's something you hear about at all stages of life- it just takes initiative.
