hey .. my little man is 19 months old and hes been good about it lately but once in a while like today he'll eat all of his meal then throw it all up. He doesnt cry he just throws up everything he eats. Some times he'll eat too fast or eat too much and can't handle it .. is there any way to fix that? Today he had 3 chicken nuggets *store bought* and 1/2 of a cup of fruit .. ate everything kind of quickly because he was hungry then just threw it alll up. I took him to the doctors about it a few months ago when he was doing it after everything he ate but the doctor just said as long as he's drinking something and eating he's fine .. doesn't sound normal to me though .. any advice?

it's everything .. like no matter what i give him, some times he'll just throw it up .. and i started cutting up his turkey dogs smaller and some times he'll keep it down and some times he'll throw it up but then he'll eat a whole corn dog not cut up or anything and wont throw up .. it's just random times with random foods .. i really dont understand

Hi - As long as he isn't loosing weight and (your doc is right) drinking fluit alright, then i don't think you have too much to worry about. I think all the other comments are good for you. But the minute he starts to throw up his liquids too and starts loosing weight, I think you seriously have a big probem. My son had this at 3 weeks old and the doctors disovered that he had Pyloric Stenosis. Which isn't nice and can only be sorted with an operation. I don't want to scare you, but like i say if he's not loosing weight and not throwing up liquids then i think it's just an eating too much too fast problem.

I really think if the doctors arent worried then you should be fine. Good luck with everything and hope you sort this out.

you may have to keep a food journal to see if it is what he is eating...could be an allergy. You should talk to your Dr., it could be anything really.

Don't ignore this just because the doctor says it ok. But as long as he isn't losing weight and it is only sometimes that he is doing it I would try to see if maybe there is certain foods that bring it on, like maybe to much grease (?).  If you have the time see if dividing the meal into 2 or 3 servings with a break of a couple minutes in between helps.  Or if you could give him a couple crackers to keep him from getting to hungry between meals.  My daughter was lactose intollerant and that caused her to feel bloated and discomfort, so if what you do decide to try does not work seek out alergy testing, could be as simple as that.

yeah, I agree with Michelle, give to him in smaller porations. My daughter doesn't thow it up but does cram her food in her mouth, so I started saying 'one at a time' and holding up one finger, and belive it or not she got it. good luck :)

I would suggest monitoring his eating for a little while, cutting things up in small bites and reminding him to eat slowly. At 19 months he is still young enough not to understand good eating habits, which is something that we just have to teach kids. I don't think most kids learn the lesson the hard way like your kiddo, but some do! I have known kids that had that happen, and their parents just had to be careful to cut up their bites for a little longer, and usually would sit with their kids when they eat to make sure they are taking their time and eating slowly.

Hi Michelle,

I'm sorry that your little man is doing this. The only advice I can think of is if he is eating too fast maybe just give him the food slower. For example, 1 nugget at a time. Neither of my little men do this so this is just a guess or suggestion. Good luck!

Michelle
