Locked Conversations

I'm just wondering how it's decided that a conversation should be locked. I've seen some with very few comments, none of which I've found critical or antagonistic, and yet the conversation is locked to further comments. I'm just curious.

Some conversations are from 2008 and 2009 and that's why most have been locked.

Kate is correct, it is most likely an old conversation - I know I've locked quite a few of those lately.

thanks for the help girls! theresa, i checked it out and i do have the option of closing it to further comments. i understand if posting are getting mean and nasty or if the conversation was really old. there were just a couple that were locked and i couldn't figure out why.

My undestanding is the original poster can lockthe conversation for whatever reason she wants. Or the adminitrator can lock it if it violates the rules of COMs or gets mean or nasty.

Well, it depends on a couple of things. But mainly if it reaches over 200 or it's older than 6 months it's usually locked. Check the date on posts before you reply to a conversation. If it's been more than 6 months chances are the original problem being talked about has been resolved.
