Looking for a convertible car seat to fit my 2006 VW Jetta? Anyone in the same boat?

I have a 2001 jetta, and just went through this! Babies R Us will let you take the car seats out to the car and try them out. I settled on the Britax Marathon 70. I needed something that wouldn't block the entire rear window, and create a huge blind spot! I am keeping my 18 month old rear facing, but it got to the point that I was more dangerous to him not being able to see than him being forward facing. I started off with an Evenflo Triumph. The seat is HUGE. I put it on my registry blindly, and didn't realize until I put it in my car just what a monstrosity it was! It's great for FFing, but not for rear. Same with the Safety first air, COMPLETE window blockage.
The new Britax marathon 70 is pricey, but I used a 20% off coupon to bring the price down. Plus my son can stay RFing until 40 pounds, no rethreading ANYTHING, both the height adjustment is one handed, and the LATCH is outer-mounted on steel bars. The only thing I don't like is that the recline is VERY hard to adjust, but that is such a small complaint, it's not even a concern of mine. I only had to deal with that twice so far.
If my son is not ready for a booster by the time my second son is ready to move out of the infant seat, I will be purchasing a second one. The seat is rated to 70 pounds, so I wouldn't blink at dropping that money again.

I have a britax marathon. love it. i also have the britax roundabout. love it too. I have a honda civic and a buick suv. so i have one tiny car and on large car. The britax marathon works great in both my cars. It is easy to install rearfacing and forward facing. And it can be washed in the washing machine. It is an investment but i have had mine since my daughter was four months old and she can use it for years to come. If you have any questions or want more details just asked. I was a nanny for ten years so when it came time to pick a car seat for my own child i was quite picky. hope this helps

I have a 2006 VW Jetta too and I have three car seats in the back. I used the peg perego when my son was an infant and now have the eddie bauer convertable one along with two others...you can fit pretty much anything in that car.
