I'm currently in a domestic violence shelter but my time here is almost up ..I have no friends or family that will help us ..because if our situation a lot of people prefer not to get involved ..I've been married to my husband for 21 years and we just fell apart after having our twins ..but he did the unthinkable he got a minor pregnant last year and try to move her in to our apartment ..I was attacked and put out of my apartment in front my kids .We have been in a domestic violence shelter for 3 months now and it stressing me out I can't think eat or sleep and we have a roommate a, stranger we've had two in the last three months .I just want a place me and my children can call home again ..I am 41 and my twin Boys are 7. I had a job as an office manager for 10 years but got laid of 4 years ago and haven't been able to hold a job down since .I'm an honest hard working reliable trustworthy person. Just looking for a break and a chance to get back on my feet before I have a nervous breakdown ...any advice welcome ..

There is only a three month stay here ..yes they have assistance is helping with counseling and yes they have a housing specialist ..I've been told to get a public assistance case opened and sign up for section 8 and public housing and I've done both ..but it's a high volume of people in my sane boat .don't get me wrong I'm not looking for a hand out .I'm looking for advice on how I could make a living to support my kids and be able to be at home taking care of them at the same , while I wait on the system to get to my paperwork ..I also have been successful in raising two other children who are on there own and in college ..just never thought I would be in this situation alone in my 40's..

Does the domestic violence shelter not provide that kind of support to help you find somewhere to live? If you feel you are having a nervous breakdown, don't they also provide free counselling? Assistance getting back on your feet with a job? What kind of shelter are you in where they don't help with these things?
