looking for advice...

I was wondering, I'm thinking about getting a tubal ligation during my next c-section (I'm 21 weeks now). Has anyone had one? What's the recovery like? Are there any side effects(long term or short term)? I've done some research, but I'd like some friendly advice :) Thanks so much!

I got my tubes tied 6 months after my son was born ( he is now 12) and I remember the day of surgery going home and straight to bed. I was given some Tylenol with Codine for the pain but did not take any, I did not want to be "loopy" with a baby to care for. I just took it easy for a few days after. Now 12 years later I think it was the best thing I did - periods are normal for me perhaps more cramps the days before. Good luck with your decision.

I had it done with after my son was born. The only real side effect I had was a few days of pain in my shoulder - from the gas they use to inflate your stomach cavity, according to my nurse. Although they offered me percocet - which I refused to take - an 800MG Motrin pretty much killed the pain. After a few days it was gone. Some people have stomach cramps and things like that but I have not. And my doctor had warned me that I might experience heavier bleeding during periods, but so far so good. My periods are very short and now happen like clockwork every 28 days. Whatever you decide to do, Good Luck!!
