Loss of speech/stuttering

Last week within about 48 hours my 2 3/4 year old son went from talking fluently to struggling to get out one word. He had an MRI, lumber puncture, EEG and they were all clear. Afew days later he had hives all over him. He is now 90% better with his speech but still has troubles sometimes. The doctors can't figure out what has happened. Has anyone else heard of this happening and if so, do you know what caused it? He had no other symptons such as loss of coordination, vomiting etc . I'm now a bit worried it may happen again as we had no idea what caused it.

My son's speech went downhill about 6 mos ago. Nothing else is off, just the speech. Have tested his hearing and its good. Going for bloodwork and to a psychologist and may have to do an eeg but we don't know what happened either. He's almost 4. Doc doesn't think its autism because nothing else is wrong except his speech. It's very frustrating because nothing at home or whatever changed! Good luck
