I took BC for 6 days while breastfeeding. Dr. said it would be fine. I lost most of my milk supply so I quit taking it. I waited a day and started the mini pill (which I have heard is fine and won't affect my milk supply), but my milk is not back yet. I've taken 2 doses. Should I have waited until my milk came back? I have no idea what to do! I need help!!!

since you can't travel in time, there is no sense is trying to guess. just snuggle that baby close and nurse, nurse , nurse...it may take a few days but it is reasonable to get your supple back. Is it reasonable for you to not take the pill at all?

Keep nursing on demand and drink a lot of water. Keep baby close to you, skin on skin if you can. How old is your baby?

Generally a mini pill is fine, but you might want to get your milk supply back before you try it. However, as Sarah said, the mini pill is less effective than the regular pill, so if you really don't want to be pregnant, he might just have to use condoms for a while.

You can turn him down, demand condoms or risk another baby. While nursing does suppress certain elements of fertility, it is not a guarantee. The mini-pill is the lowest dose of hormone to prevent pregnancy available. It lost popularity due to unanticipated pregnancies.
Your milk is the most important thing right now and since your baby is so young a diaphragm is not reasonable. Condoms are the most effective, next to abstinence.
If your true desire is to nurse your baby, stop all hormonal BC. Tell your husband it is condoms or nothing. I'll bet he chooses condoms!

lol Jodi I agree! Which is why I'm asking if the mini pill is ok? If its not I will stop taking it...if it is then I want to stay on. I just don't know if I should have waited till my milk was back in completely to start on it or if it doesn't make a difference.

Seriously? Because he doesn't like condoms? Time for him to suck it up. Your milk supply is more important. Tell him no condom no sex until you get your milk supply back on track.

Not an option! I have to be really careful with BC. I'm fertile myrtle lol Hubby doesn't like condoms, and I don't mind the pill--- as long as its not making my milk dry up!

She is 1 month and 3 weeks. I have NEVER had a problem with breastfeeding. Then I took the birth control and now its AWFUL. I started the mini pill yesterday. I didn't know if that was a bad idea or not since my milk supply is still low?
