luxuries and kids

My son was born at 26 weeks weighed a mere 850grams. Had a lengthy stay in hospital. He is now 32months old. And even though he was very sick, he has amazed his dad and i, health wise. He was not once ill. Never gave us any teething problems and a common cold lasted a day and nite at most. I feel it culd b coz we gave him no luxuries (chocolates sweets ice cream etc). Bt when and hw do we start introducing these treats? We offer him a treat bt often refuse. At first panado caused him to throw up as it was to sweet. Do we jus leav him b and allow him to discover luxuries by himself?

In terms of sweets, kids don't "need" it. Once they "discover" it, there is no stopping them, so to speak. opinion is you don't need to worry about it. Just let him discover it on his own.

If you insist, however, to have him try some sweets, just try apple juice or other naturally sweet things that could double as "healthy." Good luck!

By the way, congratulations on your amazing and healthy baby! I had a preemie, too. Wouldn't be able to tell by the way he's grown... ;)
