I have a 13 year old son that lies constantly and it's driving me crazy! He sneaks out of the house and has no respect for house rules. I recently found out that he broke into a house that has been foreclosed on and spray painted it, of course he lied about it and it wasn't until I told him the police were involved (when they really weren't) that he admitted it. What are parents supposed to do? He just says "when I get the chance to do something I'm gonna do it" I said and that includes spray painting houses, he says well yea! Ugh any suggestions.....

We've tried spanking but I feel once a child gets to certain age they shouldn't get spankings. We've grounded him taken his video games away it doesn't seem to phase him. We've had him to several therapists and the last one told him that he's gonna end up in jail if he continues on the same path. I think taking him to the police station and letting him tell them what he did sounds like a good plan.

If it were my kid I would take him down to the police station and let him explain what he did and then he could deal with the consequences. You talk about all the things he's doing but you don't mention the consequences for anything. If I had to stay up all night to keep my kid inside than that's what I would do.

A spanking may be in order. If this were my kid, I'd turn him in for illegal behaviour. If he gets caught and has consequences, he's less likely to go onto bigger crimes.. If he gets away with stuff, things will get bigger. It's important to teach him to follow societies rules.

You may wish to get him into therapy, they may suggest in inpatient treatment. It wou scare him straight
