Mad unhappy teenager

My daughter turned 13 in August. Lately she just seems mad and unhappy all the time. When I try to talk to her she says nothing is wrong. Nothing pleases her and never wants to do anything unless it is with her friends. Is this normal or should I be concerned

I wouldn't be very worried if the only change is your daughter's mood at home. If she hasn't changed her circle of friends, you have no particular concerns about the kids she chooses to spend time with, she is still engaged with school, her teachers aren't complaining, etc this is most likely normal teen angst.

Understand that the teenage years can be a very uncertain and tumultuous time. Some kids use up everything they have to get along at school and with friends, and they are cranky and burnt out when they get home. Family is the only thing that feels secure, and so home is the only place you can let your negative emotions out.
