I'm so glad to have come across this website and I sure do hope I will get some help out of this . As is everyone's concern about their children in school and about Math and reading and whatever it is...so is mine.
I have a 3rd grader who is struggling in math and I really feel bad for her. Sometimes I feel like I failed her. Math was a night mare for me too in school..but I passed my nursing school pre math with an unbelievable A. But I struggle with her. I am trying ways to help her. She was doing OK in k.G and 1st grade math. When it came to the 2nd grade..it all changed..and I see that she has not got her concepts well..and she shows no interest at all.
But her teacher is trying to help her by getting an extra help group.
I have seen some of the helpful sites here and I'm going to try it out. Of course the teacher has a lot of fun games website ..but these kids lose track of it.
Long story short...thanks to all the moms here to support one another . It's a blessing.
Thank you

The game websites are great. You can just google "free math games" and you will come up with tons of them. Bookmark a ton of them, then sit down with her and let her play them until she finds one or two that she likes.

My son loves Math Magician, but some kids find it boring. It is just a very simple tool to help with memorizing the basic Addition, Multiplication, Division, and Subtraction facts. If she doesn't have these memorized by the end of 2nd grade, 3rd and 4th will be very difficult for her because she will be focusing on the simple addition or multiplication portion of a problem while also trying to learn the new concepts. Also, having those memorized is a big confidence booster, and will make the work go much quicker because she isn't wasting time figuring them out each time.

Xtramath.org is also a great source for basic facts, and you can follow her progress. My son likes this one too--it is better than Math Magician if she is still learning the facts, but math magician is a good tool for not forgetting them.

Coolmath-games.com also has a lot of fun, colorful games.

Thank you so much. Shawn and guest. I think I calmed a little bit.
I do not want my child to feel scared and anxious about Math . She also has test anxiety. But I'm trying to help her out of it. I pray that these suggested websites will encourage her and she will have her facts staunch and thorough and that she will be confident.

Thank you friends.
