Baby's heart beat can fluctuate that much, it's not a big deal. I know even my own heartbeat will fluctuate 5-15 beats taken a couple minutes apart. A fetus has a lot more room for fluctuation.
As for showing early, each pregnancy is different. I didn't show until after 24 weeks with my first either, but showed much earlier and much more with my second and third pregnancies (even though I gained the same amount of weight with all 3). Don't forget that after the first pregnancy, your body changed. Your muscles are weaker and things have moved around.

It doesn't sound like twins to me, just a normal second pregnancy. But the only way to really tell would be with an ultrasound, and even that isn't always accurate :)

You tend to show more quickly with each pregnancy. You get older, muscles are less toned, they have been stretched by previous pregnancies. People who have twins tend to have twins in the family (even if it is cousins or something). Also, those who have used fertility drugs or In Vetro have an increased chance for twins. Talk to your doctor and ask their thoughts.

Hi there..I am an L/D RN with almost 30 year experience and 6 pregnancies of my own.
What you are describing sounds like a nice active baby ( girl?). baby heart beats are usually pretty high at this point and one or two kicks can make its little heart rate go fast. Old wives tales...but fun to think about...is that girls will hang out in the 140's to 150's and boys in the 130's. If I get a boy in the 150's I tease the parents about being a "hyperactive boy"...lol!
Anyway...your uterus is a muscle and the first time around it was. Tight and unused so you wouldn't notice the bump early. However, the second time around the uterus is "floppier"( not a really nice word..but, it gets the point across...Haha) so, pregnancy bumps "show" faster.
Back to the change in numbers...being"reactive " to kicks...or baby movements is a really good thing. Later in the pregnancy you may be asked to do a no stress test and they will be looking for kicks, contractions and your babies heart rate and how they all work together. Just think of it as someone doing aerobics..you would expect the runner ( or kicker) Heart rate to go up while moving...a nice healthy sign.
Hope this helps...if you have more questions you could always ask for a sonogram to confirm.
God bless!

A baby's heart can stop anytime anywhere and be very careful of what you eat drink but CONGRATS it sounds like twins

Yeah but the baby can still move just enough to make the heart rate change. Or something could have startled the baby too. You do not really know what happened. For a baby that tiny though it does not take much movement to get the heart rate to change.

The baby could have moved, and that will raise the heart beat. You will know for sure after your ultrasound at about 20-25 weeks. With each pregnancy you have, you show sooner. Your uterus and belly are more tight with the first, and the second one everything knows what to do. Completely normal to show sooner.

Each baby is different. Did your OB sound concerned?

Not necessarily. Heart rates change all the time and each pregnancy is different. Just because you did not show until much later than some do in the first one does not make it set of twins because you show now.
