My 4 year old daughter has been co-sleeping for most of her life. We have recently moved, and she has her own room. There are some nights that she sleeps continuously throughout the night. Other nights, however, she cries for hours at a time for me to comfort and hold her. Last night was the first time that I didn't run to her rescue. It was a long night but she woke up in a fine mood and nothing more was said about it. I asked her how she slept, and she told me she slept well. I also asked her if she was too hot, cold, etc. Did she have bad dreams? No. She simply wanted mommy to hold her. Should I give in to this request or continue to let her cry it out? She will be five soon and I'm afraid this bad habit will persist if I continue to cater to her. What are you thoughts/experiences?
