I'm stuck!! I would love some advice, I have a couple of sleep issues. My 9mo old wakes up a few times during the night. If my husband goes in he can usually get her to sleep easily. If I go in, I can't just cuddle or hold her, I have to nurse or she cries & escalates to screams. I would love to be able to put her to sleep without having to nurse every time. I do love the comfort it gives her but its getting too much every night a few times, and there are nights when my husband can't do it every time. I really want to break her of the habit of 1. Waking a few times, & 2. Associating me with nursing every time in the middle of the night. Naps are better, she usually can cuddle and go to sleep.

We also need to do some sleep training so she doesn't wake up so often. I feel overwhelmed by it. Prefer no CIO but maybe "progressive" but don't know much about it. Any thoughts, ideas...would be much appreciated.

Hi Nicole, I went through this with my oldst who is now 21. I was told it was because they can smell our milk, so they expect to get it. I was advised to give only plain cooled boiled water during the night if she woke and eventually she would realise it wasn't worth waking up for.

It wan't a miricle cure & took some perservierence but it dd reduce the amount of times she woke during the night.

Good luck
