Midwife vs. doctor.. Or midwife AND doctor...maybe a doula?

I am soo out of my league. I'm 6 weeks pregnant. My sister did the midwife/doula thing. But she's not really helpful. I have an ob/gyn that I like, but I don't have any other friends who have had children for me to ask about how you go about finding out what I would want. Do they help you come up with a birth plan? How all does it work? Where do I start? I have an appointment with my ob in two weeks. That is all that I have done. After that..I'm lost ....

I say go and meet with your doctor. Keep the appointment. Then make an appointment with a mid wife, and see which you prefer. I have had both. But I encourage you to find a facility with midwives that have a doctor (who can deal with big issues) and that they deliver in a hospital. if you want to find the best of the best, call the labor and delivery unit of the hospital you want to deliver in, and ask the nurses who they will recommend. Trust me, they will tell you who is the best.
