Thanks Michelle, i've got some tough decisions to make right here. I was researching about it the whole of today and the stories i read just scared me off, majority of people do not reccomend it.

I personally wouldn't go near it. I have heard of all sorts of horrible side effects from excessive bleeding to horrible mood swings and depression.
I would discuss all the side effects with your doctor and do plenty of research before going ahead.
I had the Implanon and bled for 6 months solidly so there was no way I was going to go near it.

Thanks for the reply Julie, I guess it completely depends on one's body. I will post after i've decided whether to have one installed or not.. Your comment really helped, very much appreciated!

Hi, congrats on baby boy #2. I have 2 boys turning 10 & 13 this month :) I had the Mirena put in after nursing my second for 10 months. It has worked out well for me, but apparently not everyone.
I have the 5 year, and this is my second one. Install is quite uncomfortable and cramping/bleeding can be moderate to severe for up to 6 weeks. Some women can not handle that and get it removed.
I however had just bled 6 weeks after birthing a kid, so I figured lets keep it going. I have not had a "period" for a decade! I spot 2-3 days, if that and i'm good. My PMS became lighter (not gone but..) no migraines or cramping.
The only side effect I have, but not everyone gets is an increase of yellow discharge. I unfortunately deal with it by wearing a light tampon daily.
