I'm so sorry for your loss. Please be kind and gentle with yourself as you heal. I have a history of recurrent pregnancy loss and have seen an RPL specialist. There is a "natural" increase in risk for miscarriage as we age due to decrease in the quality of eggs and, depending on the age of your partner, the quality of the sperm as well. They do not know all of the causes of pregnancy loss but some are just because of "bad luck" or poor egg quality or poor sperm quality. One thing, though, that I would check with your doctor on since you're over 40, is your progesterone levels. Sometimes when you hit 40, you need a little bit more progesterone support during the time in your cycle after ovulation to help support a pregnancy.

Women do conceive and give birth to healthy babies at your age (I've had the privilege of holding a few!), so hang in there!!

Well, that's definetly a question for your doctor. Do they have any idea as to why you miscarried? Have you had any genetic testing done? Also, have you talked to anybody about your loss? There is a good forum here called "Motherhood after the death of a child; pregnancy, infant". I know you will find a lot of good support there for your loss. I know I have.

I'm sorry for your loss....only words but truly heartfelt. Get a check up with your OB and ask him if there is anything preventing you from getting pregnant and carrying to term. Sometimes a miscarriage is unexplainable therefore do not blame yourself. If your doc says there are no problems give your body to the time to heal (he'll probably recommend a time of trying to avoir conception) and then try again. Good luck...my thoughts and prayers are with you.

I had a miscarriage in July at 11 week's the month aft my 42 nd birthday was heart broken. I asked my g.p to refer me to the miscarriage clinic at Heartlands Birmingham. They was lovely had blood tests taken and had my results and they come back normal. Said I've gt a 50-60 % chance of conceiving as the tests show I'm healthy. I'm glad I hd the tests done to reassure myself So I'm goin to keep trying and hopefully I will get my healthy bundle of joy soon. good luck to everyone who's trying and hope u get your bundles of joy soon xx
