My 5 year old acting up bad in public. She pushed another child down in the store over a toy. The other mom popped her daughter's butt three times. My daughter never got a spanking in her life. So she laughed at the other lil girl. Should i give her her very first spanking next time she acts up 😫

Your daughter pushed another child down and then laughed at the child who got spanked? That is definitely not OK and some strict consequences need to come into play here... but spanking is definitely not the answer. If she can not behave in the store she can not go in the store. You may have to do your shopping when she is at school or daycare. If that is not feasible she may need to sit in the back of the shopping cart like she is a toddler for a while. Sarah is right that your daughter should have been made to apologize to the other child as well. Talk to her about how she laughed at the little girl and how the girl must have felt. Ask her how SHE would feel if she had been the one pushed to the ground and then spanked by her mother for it. Empathy in our children is a very important concept for them to grasp.

Of course not. Why would even consider starting spanking at 5? It is sad that another child was assaulted by your child and then by her own mother. What would have been productive you child apologize to the other girl and help her up off the floor along with a consequence from you. What do you think spanking her will teach her to do? Not to strike another person? That is totally hypocritical.
