If it only lasts 2 or 3 days, it is probably an upset stomach. If it lasts more than a week or so, it is probably morning sickness.
Neither are usually a big deal, you would treat them both the same if you are pregnant--oyster crackers and a very bland diet. Some maternity stores sell anti nausea lollipops now. They didn't work for me, but some of my friends loved them.
Morning sickness usually goes away once you've been up for a few hours, but sometimes it can last all day. If the vomiting is extreme and you feel like you are not able to eat enough or keep enough nutrients down, you need to talk to your doctor about a nausea medication that is safe during pregnancy. 3 or 4 days of extreme vomiting should be okay, but sometimes morning sickness can last more than 3 months, and if it is extreme for that long, your baby won't get all the nutrients it needs. Your doctor will need to work carefully with you to make sure you are getting everything the baby needs.
