Morning sickness getting worse

[deleted account] ( 14 moms have responded )

I am 11 weeks pregnant with my second child and my morning (all day) sickness seems to be getting worse. I was really sick when I was pregnant with my daughter as well, but I don't remember it really getting worse, it just kind of stayed the same for a while. The doctor prescribed me phenerghan and it worked for a little now it doesn't seem to do much of anything. The worst part is that my almost 3 year old and I always used to be busy doing stuff (esp. in the summer) but now all I can do is try to keep what I can down, and we are not as active as we were. I do still get her outside daily and play stuff inside with her that I can, but I feel really guilty that we are not doing things the way we would before. Has anyone else had this problem and felt guilty? Any advice would be appreciated? Thanks!

Ask for Zofran. It's expensive but it's a gift from God, I swear. It's the only thing that kept me from puking for the last 7 months of my pregnancy.

Don't feel bad. You'll most likely be out of commission for a few more weeks, and then you can do tons. =) I haven't been pregnant a second time, but my mother said she didn't do anything when she was preggers with my brother, sat on the couch for a full 9 months. I never suffered playing alone. If your daughter wants company, she'll drag her toys near you, or get you to read her a book. But anyway, you're doing good taking care of yourself right now. If you were out and about feeling worse, you'll get grumpy and snappy, might snap at your daughter. Hang in there, it won't last much longer!

Kind of off subject, but I just watched this "from conception to birth" program, and they state that during the first three months, your baby grows so much that if she were to keep it up for the full 9 months, she grow to be larger than the sun. No wonder most everyone is sick at first!

I too threw up for a little over 4 months. Dr. gave me IVs to help with dehydration and Meds. what did help was drinking ensure. I wasn't happy that i couldn't keep food down and i was worried that my baby wasn't getting any nutrients i would throw up my vitiamins too. I sipped on ensures a sip at a time here and thereand it gave me piece of mind that the baby was getting a few nutrients. i have a healthy nine month old son. Talk to your dr. about meds. i felt quilty taking them but nce i was able to keep food down i stopped taking them.

i found the thing that worked for me was to keep my blood sugars up, so at least every 2 hrs i would pop to the fridge and pop in a small amount of ham, or take stuff out with me...this seemed to stem off the worst of it.

Try ginger lollipops from a Babies R Us or ginger candies from a heatlh food store if you have one where you live. I had to take Progesterone for the first 13 weeks and I had morning sickness times 2! I took the ginger candies and I also tried to eat very small meals 6 or 7 times a day. Believe it or not eating those small amounts made my nausea go away for a little while. Ginger ale helped a little also. Good luck and I hope it gets better!

I had such bad morning sickness with my first I was in the hospital/ambulatory infusion center every week to get IV to re-hydrate me. My second, was not quite so bad but close. What worked for me was before even sitting up in bed I would nibble a few saltine crackers. When I woke every day I would make ginger root tea. Buy some ginger root and peel it and dice it.Put it in boiling water for about 20 mins. Strain out chunks and it doesn't taste the best so I would mix with a caffeine free tea I liked(hot or cold) or with cranberry gingerale is yummy and a great cold drink when it's hot. Make a lot of the tea at once (enough for a day). My midwife also said to have lemonade and potato chips. That worked too. BTW, If you are gonna throw up anyways, chocolate ice cream tastes like chocolate ice cream coming up lol. DON"T eat popcorn or starch stuff If you are gona toss your cookies,I won't describe what thats like but trust me,it's hell. Good luck!

My morning sickness got progressively worse throughout my pregnancy and lasted right up till my Josh was born! It got to the point that just going for a walk would make me throw up! There are medicines that the doctors can give you but unfortunately I wasn't taken seriously with my doctor and despite all the complaints i made nothing was done! Even after I ended up in hospital several times after vomiting blood. One thing that did help get me to work in the mornings though was keeping water and ginger biscuits by my bed and when i woke up i would lay in bed nibbling a biscuit and sipping the water! Try it! It didn't make it go away for me but it lessened it somewhat and most pregnancies cease the morning sickness in the start of the 2nd trimester.

I have 2 kids at home during the summer and all we have done is color and watch tv. I hate that and I feel so guilty. I have had 3 er visits in the last few weeks because of hyperemesis. Ask your doctor about zofran or a zofran pump. IV meds always seem to work better. I hope you get better soon.

I was soo sick with my daughter also the only thing that helped was wristbands that you wear for motion sickness. They have half circles that push on the inside, underneath of your wrist its medicine-free and worked for me better than the medicines did! I got mine at Walgreens for about $10.00. Hope this helps!!
