Mother in law and sister in law issues.

I've been with my husband for almost 10 years. Ive had my ups and downs with my in laws but recently I went through this horrible betrayal.I ended a long friendship due to issues.Of course i have vented to my friend about my frustration with my sister in law and mother in law. My sister in law and my friend met several times at my kids' birthday parties. One day when I was upset about our friendship ending my sister in law asked me about what happened. So of course I told her how I felt. Later I found out my sister in law approached my friend at a bar, sent several message on fb, and also started calling and texting her. My sister in law told her everything I said to her and also twisted my words. So of course now that my friend is upset with me she told my sister in law all the things I said about her. Of course I decided to confront my sister in law and it turned out really bad! I am wrong for talking bad about those to but I was only venting in frustration and thought I could at least lean on my family. My question is I really do not feel comfortable going over to family holidays anymore because of all the hurtful things my sister in law said to me. What should I do? A

I'm not sure how that is being immature. Isn't that what friends are for? That's what you do with friends. You vent to them! I think its completely wrong that your sister in law betrayed you over someone she only met a few times

Be an adult. Admit that you sniped about her to your ex friend, and that you really should have handled it in a more mature manner, and apologize.

Next time, handle things in a more mature manner. You're not in elementary school any more, and as you can see, handling situations as if you are only turns out badly.

Good luck!
