I went to the ER the 2nd day my throat was hurting, found out I had strep throat. Ive been taking antibiotics & feel much better. I have a 3 year old and a 2 month old & they are w/,e 24/7. Now they havent showed any symptoms of strep throat. I was wondering if I should set them and appt anyway. Because I've been reading on the internet and a lot of web sites say that children under 5 don't usually get it, but then there are other web sites that have mothers writing blogs and comments about how their infants and toddlers had. Now I would rather "nip it in the butt". I would be safe than sorry. I just want to know what y'all think...should I call now and schedule them. Or should I wait tiel they show symptoms? -THANKS MUCH. A MOTHE IN NEED.

Angel, I work with kids and it is possible for those under five to get the strep throat problem. But as said in one post, until the kids get any symptoms taking them to a doctor is not going to do any good but waste your time and money. Also READING all those WEB SITES is not a good idea. They are not going to be a good source of information because unless they have .org or .gov on the end of them...information is not always correct. At the .org and .gov sites they have to have correct and current information all the time.

I would wait. Unless they show symptoms there is not much a doc. can say anyway. Not always do kids get sick when adults do. I would just watch. And it is correct that most kids under the age of 5 yrs don't get strep.....nice for that :)

Thanks, that is nice. But also discouraging when you come across a website full of mother saying that their newborns, infants, and toddlers has had strep throat and some had caught is multiple times. :/
