I have been a stay at home mother for 29 years. I am tired of hearing that once the kids have grown they do not need their mothers any longer. I find that I am still just as busy supporting, loving and encouraging them as I was when they were small children. The only difference is, that the issues have changed. I committed to being their full time mother the day they were born. That didn't change just because they had more birthdays.

I completely agree! However, I was defending those of us who continue to be a stay at home mom even when their "children" are adults. I enjoy being a "homemaker" and believe it's a worthy career choice and one that unfortunately seems to be a dying breed. There are still many areas that we can feel valued and needed creating and maintaining a home base for those that have flown the nest.

There is a day that you do have to let them be adults and fly the nest!!!
They don't need you in the same way as when they are babies but they also SHOULDN'T be needing you if they are adults.
Our job as Mother's is to nurture and give our children all the skills they need to be able to make a life of their own, not to be always reliant on their parents.
