motivating 19 year old to get a job

My son graduated from high school last year and has no motivation to find a job. I don't give him money. He has money saved that he uses when he necessarily need to. All he does is lay around the house all day watching tv, has hid girlfriend over our plays video games. Drugs and alcohol play no roll into this situation.

Well, how long are you planning on supporting your adult child? Time for some solid goals. Get a job, start apartment hunting, and get ready to move out.

discuss this with him, set dates mutually agreed upon (and reasonable). You can accomplish this within 6 months, if both stick to your goals.

sounds to me like he needs an ultimatum. Tough love but a lot of times it works and opens there eyes to see what they need to do in order to make there life better. has there been talk about going to college? start taking things away from him. I know he is 19 and an adult but he still lives under your roof, your rules and until he can follow them he doesn't need to have tv or his games and I would even suggest not letting his girlfriend over until he decides to get a job and I would mention to him even if its a part time job for now. good luck
