My baby just turned 1 and we have been feeding her table foods since she was about 9 months along with puréed veggies and fruits. At around 10 months we stopped purée-ing as much and wanted to transistor to more table foods. She was doing well with things mashed up and soft. She ate Cheerios just fine as well. But when it came to certain textures she would gag and sometimes the gagging would lead to vomiting. Like coming out of her nose and mouth forcefully. It was scary and messy and stressful when that would happen. Even so, I still kept trying new things and kept offering old things even if they made her gag in the past. Even though I know texture sensitivity is normal in babies and toddlers, I must admit that it shied me away from trying at times bc she was still getting formula so I thought "well at least she's drinking the formula and getting her nutrients" but then she got weighed at 10 months and was only 18 pounds then weighed twice more and no gain still at 1 year. I'm trying to feed her as much table foods as I can but now on top of the occasional gagging, she turns away not interested in anything but yogurt or something sweet. It's driving me nuts bc I want her to gain and thrive! Any advice would help! Please keep in mind I'm a first time mother and all of this is new and at times discouraging. But I'm open to any suggestions and stories where anyone can relate! Thanks
