Hi. My 1 yo still throws up when drinks or has his puree! N on top of that, unlike other kids of his age.... He can't hv lumpy food. His food should be finely pureed. That rely worries me! I mean he doesn't know how to chew... He just swallows it!! If only one little lump gets in his throat, he vomits all his food as he chokes. What to do... Advise plz. Thnx

Some babies have a sensitive gag reflex that makes them gag on lumpy food. If your baby has trouble eating textured or lumpy food without gagging, sticking to pureed food isn't the answer – that will only take him longer to learn how to chew.

To help your child tolerate lumpy food, start adding things with a uniform texture, like wheat germ or graham cracker crumbs, to pureed food. Start with a small amount and add more as your child gets used to the texture. Sometimes solids that dissolve easily, such as baby crackers, can also ease the transition to textured food.

You should talk to your doctor to see what they recommend for your child's specific problems.
