Well I really hope that you can move past the physical characteristics of your daughter and just love her for her and the uniqueness that she has. Stop worrying about what others will think. A little umbilical hernia is repairable if medically needed. Those children born with cleft palates, port wine stains across their faces, or are in a wheel chair for life would have more to be self conscious about. And not because they should be ashamed, but because of how society doesn't understand it, and views it. Don't make your child be one of those people that solely judges on appearances. Embrace her as she is, and teach her to love herself and those with physical characteristics that make them stand out because of societies inability to accept differences as a whole.

Why are YOU self conscious about it? In turn, you are going to make HER more self conscious about it. You should teach your daughter to love her body. She is to young to understand yet, but if you are constantly trying to pull down her shirt to hide it, she will learn why quickly.

How come dr's have not fixed it? Not for cosmetic reasons mind you, but because of the health reasons involved.
