I have been reading a lot about this...especially if he has started picking up fears like bath time, loud trucks, vacume ect... he doesn't even have a favorite toy...is this all normal?

And hey, now you get to plan his birthday party around something that hasn't been commercialized to the gills. :)

Honestly, for a 1st birthday, I wouldn't even worry all that much about having a theme. He won't care. My son was 1 in August, and we just had some family over, set up his inflatable kiddy pool so that he could have fun splashing around and playing boats with his grandparents, helped him open his gifts, and then had a nice supper and some cake. That's more than enough for a 1-year-old.

Save the worry about a theme for when he's old enough to actually care about such things. For now, just relax and enjoy. :)

thank your lucky stars..there is nothing more annoying than having to bring the stupid stuffed animal or blanky or whatever it happens to be..when you are rushing out the door and trying to remember the diaper bag and everything that goes in it ...and then you get where you are going just to realize you were so busy you never looked at your kids face and it's still covered in yogurt LOL

Neither of my girls got attached to things. Just ME. haha! Seriously, they are 4 and 6 now...they have favorites NOW but those preferences change depending on the day.

My son is a very happy baby and very social..... he is also very easily comforted....And yes Pia i tend to jump in the bath with him or we just shower together...its funny he loved the bath now hates it unless i'm in there with him and he is so comfortable in the shower he falls asleep.....I just wasn't sure if he should be getting attached to a certain toy or lovey....People were telling me to plan his birthday party around his fav toy or show and i was like " my son is 9 months old he doesn't have a fav toy or intrest yet and he sure don't have a fav cartoon....THANKS FOR THE QUCIK REPLIES :)

Both my kids have a blankie. They didn't start getting attached to a particular one until about 18 months old.

I think so. My son is 19 months and while he has some toys that he prefers over others, he's never gotten attached to one particular toy, lovey or blanket.

Some might disagree, but I don't necessarily see that as a bad thing, as long as he's still relatively easily comforted when upset. No lovey means no atomic freak-outs when lovey is missing or in the washing machine. :)

My son didn't start cuddling his Teddy until he moved into s toddler bed whe he was 18 months. Now the Teddy goes everywhere with him, and also gets it's nappy changed, wears clothes and is breastfed.
As for the fears, he also was afraid of trucks (only when he gets close to one) and loud noises like the vacuum, blender etc.
My son is a very happy, social child so I pretty sure it's all normal... You just have to find a way to deal with the fears. Maybe hop in the bath with him, or let him shower instead.
