My 10 month old son is refusing to drink his formula

My son will only drink maybe 5 oz. He eats breaky, lunch and dinner. As well as snacks. I am worried he is not getting enough to drink. I don't know what to do. Is it to early to start mixing formula and milk?

I agree with Jodi. Formula is to be the main source of nutrition the first year. Would you be willing to back off on the solids so that he will take more formula?

Yes, it is too early for regular milk. You shouldn't give it to him until 12 months because not only doesn't it contain the necessary nutrients, but his tummy isn't ready to digest the proteins (in formula they are broken down for little tummies). Also, the enzymes in cow's milk deplete the iron in the body, so children switched to milk before 12 months are often diagnosed with anemia - formula has iron added to avoid this.

With regard to his current formula intake, are you offering the formula BEFORE the meals, or after?
