Hello,

I'm struggling with how to help my 11 year old daughter work through a very difficult situation. She just started middle school and her best friend has pretty much wrote her off for a new "BFF". My daughter and her friend have been very close since the age of 3. Now, she is not only dealing with the adjustments of middle school but is now having to find her place with a new circle of friends. She is ADD and can be a little overbearing at times, on the other hand she has a huge heart and would do anything for you. I've found myself searching the internet all morning for answers as cry over my coffee. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

My heart goes out to you. I am in a similar situation with my 11 year old daughter. Her best friend has certainly cooled on her. The pal never calls any more or wants to spend time with her. When I suggest my daughter calls for her she is usually out or too busy to hang out. Things have escalated since my little girls friend has discovered she has a long lost sister. Now that is quite a heavy thing for the pal to take on board and I can certainly understand why there might be a need for adjustment, but now all she wants to do is spend time with the sister and not with my daughter.Of course its only right that the friend spends time with her sister but I cant help feeling sorry for my lady.....luckily she has more pals than this girl but it is still difficult.....

I Know how this feels, my 10 year old was just dumped by her bestfriend because she now has a friend from the popular group, my daughter is angry and very emotional and I feel like you I dont know what to do, my daughter is so nice almost too nice and I am trying to increase her confidence. Every morning I have her write three I am's( I am beautiful), I have her write a journal to express her feelings. She still is in pain almost like grief. Hopefully soon this will get easier. Maybe some other moms can give some advice.
