Hi, My name is Niki Bhatia and I am the author o a childrens book, PINK IS JUST A COLOR AND SO IS BLUE. It is about letting go of our old gender stereotypes about colors (pink and blue) and toys kids choose to play with. The main character is a little boy who is not too athleti and his best friend is a feisty little girl who

tomboyish". Our ultimate goal is to assure that our kids grow upto be confident, productive individuals, without placing so much emphasis on color and toys when they are sooo young.

This is from a lady soccer coach and a referee: no dear, it does not mean a thing (in that direction). She just has a lot of energy to spend. I coached a lot of co-ed teams and the girls were more aggressive than the boys. They turned out to be just girls who love to compete with boys. I was soooooo tomboy, my mom used to say that I will never have children. I have two wonderful sons to prove the opposite.

No it doesn't mean she is a lesbian all thought it shouldn't matter if she is or not she is your daughter and will always be your daughter.  To me it just sounds like you have a tomboy on your hands, lol....When I was your daughters age I loved playing football and climbed trees and played with the boys!  I was also very girly and wanted to do all this stuff while I wore a dress, hahahaha...my mom siad she had never see such a girly tomboy.

Yes, it's normal! I loved football too and I'm married with 2 kids. My sister was a big tomboy and she's happy in a relationship too. No worries!

I would say that whatever she wants to do is what she wants to do.  Gay or not.  If she is happy then so be it.   I beleive it is our job to support the positives in their lives anyway and sports are positve.  I loved to do boy things until I was about 14 then I started to paint my nails and put on make-up. I still like braun things over girly things but am a mother of 3 and happily married.  Maybe the thing you need to concern yourself with is more how you can deal with the posibility of a gay child.  Because if she is, she will be, football or not.   I don't  think that her intrest in football constitutes her as a lesbian though.  I wish you all the luck in the world on your journy of motherhood

I always played basketball, rubgy, soccer, refused to wear dresses and caught bugs and snakes and frogs. I say count yourself lucky she prefers sports to video games, she'll be much healthier later on!

No there is nothing wrong with your daughter playing football. One of my sons use to play football and on his team there were two girls playing football. They were 14 at the time and those two girls are wonderful young women now, so I won't worry if I were you.

I too played football growing up. I was a tomboy my entire childhood...most of my friends were guys, so I just played what they did. Now that I have grown, I am happily married for almost four years now and we have a beautiful two and a half year old. Playing sports is not an indicator of sexual orientation, just an indication of interest in sports. In fact, part of the reason I played football was to get to know some of the boys a lttle better (and teh tackling would certainly do that!)!
