Hi, my 13 yr. old daughter has been diagnosed with anxiety. We thought she had ADHD and was on concerta 27mg. for about a year and it helped. The dr. told me it's known to exacerbate anxiety. We took her off of it because it seemed she was able to focus and the hyperactivity settled down. Since the anxiety seemed worse, we put her on 5mg. of Lexapro. She's been on it for 5 days and already having bad side effects like slurring words, too happy, bad stomach aches, etc. I decided to take her off Lexapro and will try cognitive behavioral therapy and natural holistic medications. At the beginning of school she had some problems with bullying. That's when I really noticed the anxiety. She has close friends but says kids make fun of her because she's weird. She's a pretty girl and has no self-esteem and now does things that seem strange to us, like being close to kids that have problems. We are worried for her future and feel overwhelmed.
