It is day 5 and my toddler has stopped vomiting and the diarrhea is getting much better, however she seems to still be very tired and I noticed her last pee was dark brown, should I be concerned or is this fairly normal after gastro? she has been reluctant to drink much water today but I have managed to get her to drink some cows milk.

pureed apple (not too much as it can be a mild laxative in high doses) will give ur child antioxidants to help clean her system, and high in vitamins and natural glucose which should give her a bit more energy
use this as an extra treat, between meals (like good sweets)
also green tea will be high in antioxidants and is fine either cold or lukewarm (also a diuretic)
is a chance that lack of energy due to her being ill as her body hasnt been able to hold on to many nutrients/vitamins and nourishment while poorly
the pee shouldnt take any longer than 48 hrs with rehydration and antioxidants to return almost to normal
if after 48 hrs you are concerned then take baby to your doctor, better be safe than sorry and no need to be worried or self conscious about seeming 'overprotective'

if the pee doesnt improve over the next 24 hrs get her to a doctor, do not take 'this is normal' as an answer.
insist on a blood test or further examination
it does sounds like severe dehydration after her illness, if you are ok with ur child taking sugar within her diet add a bit more with water as this will give her some more energy,

also weak green tea will have high levels of antioxidants within it, and is fine cold or lukewarm, which will also flush out the liver kidneys, it is a very good diuertic
and pureed apples will have high antioxidants within them and natural glucose for energy, and vitamin c etc to help repair tissue
not too much tho as too much may also act as a mild laxative which is what u may want to avoid at this time

again water will hydrate and flush her system

Thanks for this, the pee seems to be improving, it now just really concerns me how tired she is all the time

if reluctant to drink water add 1/4 teaspoon of sugar into each litre so child enjoys the taste a bit more and will be more willing to drink it.
the sugar will help her stay more hydrated and water is the best for flushing out the system, dark pee is indicative of low iydration and build up of 'poisons' within liver, possible overwiorked kidneys too
milk is one of the best liquids for staying hydrated but the water will help her pass fluids more regularly to flush her system out
