My 14yr. old daughter refuses to go to school.

Hi im april, I a having trouble with my daughter going to school. shee uses every excuse in the book. she screams and hollers when I pull up to the school if I even get her in the car to go. please give me some ideas

As a counselor at school.... I have to wonder if bullying or other problems at school are becoming a major stressor. Social issues, academics, etc. If I were working with you and your daughter I would suggest three things: 1. Set up a meeting with the school, the adjustment counselor, etc. Come up with solutions, ideas, and find out what's going on from the schools prospective. 2.consider counseling outside of school as an additional support. Being a teen is so hard. 3. Be firm, understanding and develop boundaries with clear incentives, consequences and expectations. A contract might b helpful.
