My 15 month old is throwing awful fits.. what can I do to make it stop?

He keeps throwing fits over small things and I try to distract him and get him interested in something else but he has a one track mind and set on getting his way

And you have to take note that at this age he has no real words he can use to express his needs or wants either. You need to work on those words every time he has a fit and say: "I know you want that but you have to wait." "You can have this not that." You have to start teaching him what is acceptable and not acceptable. He might want that cookie right now but you have other ideas. You have to be firm in your choices. He will learn. But at this age kids do not know how to express themselves and sometimes fits, crying and screaming are all you get. Learn to read his signs to see what it means and that might also make it better. Sarah's idea also works too.

If distracting him does not work then just walk away and let him throw his fit. He will soon realize that throwing a fit does not get what he wants.
